Are you looking for some extra support through your fertility, pregnancy, birth or postpartum journey?
Expanding a family can be an intense time. Sometimes things don't go to plan, and that can have a serious knock on effect to how you feel about yourself and life in general. Even when things are going well, the impact on your life that these changes bring can feel destabilising.
You may find yourself doubting your decisions and capabilities, struggling to find joy or comfort in day to day life and wondering what's wrong with you.
Spoiler alert - nothing is wrong with you. Having a family is HARD. And sometimes stuff happens that makes it harder.
Entering the perinatal space means entering a space that's unpredictable, out of your control and you may find some of your ideas about conception, pregnancy, birth and parenting being challenged by the circumstances you find yourself in. This can feel really isolating and lonely, but you're not alone.
While you can't control much, if anything, in life, it can make things easier to manage when you (gently) challenge how you think about yourself and relate to what's happening. Having a compassionate ear to listen to how you're feeling in this moment, what your biggest fears and hopes are, and receiving support to gain a sense of perspective can be a game changer.
With a tidal wave of unsolicited advice that comes with starting a family, it can be hard to connect with what you really want and need, and how to do things in a way that aligns with your values. Having some space to explore this can help you to tap in to your core so you can feel more confident in making the decisions that are right for you, and owning your experiences.
These sessions are focussed what you need and can range from a one off birth debrief to regular weekly support to help manage anxiety.
My approach is based on encouraging self-compassion, and finding a sense of stillness and space that allows you to connect to who you really are, to help give perspective on the challenges of your unique situation while helping you to identify the strengths.
If this sounds good to you and you'd like to see how I may be able to help you please get in touch.
Sessions can be held online and in person if you're local, either in your home or at Sheffield Wellness Centre on Abbeydale Road.
To work with me one to one, I use a sliding scale based on the Green Bottle Model as devised by Alexis J. Cunningfolk of Worts and Cunning (please see the image below).
If your situation is best described by the lefthand bottle (you're comfortably able to meet all your housing, food and transportation needs, may have some debt but it doesn't affect your ability to meet your basic needs, you own your home or rent a higher end property, own or lease a car, have access to personal savings, have an expendable income, can buy things new and can afford to take holidays) my hourly rate is £65 and the only limit on availability at this level is my availability.
If your situation is best described by the middle bottle (you may stress about meeting basic needs of housing, food and transportation but still regularly achieve them, may have some debt but it doesn't stop you from meeting your basic needs, own or lease a car, may have access to financial savings, have some expendable income are able to buy some thing new and thrift others, can go on holiday once a year or once every few years), my hourly rate is £45.
If your situation is best described by the bottle on the right, (you frequently stress about meeting your basic needs and don't always achieve them, have debt and it sometimes stops you from being able to meet your basic needs, rent lower end property, live in social housing or have unstable housing, don't have a car or if you do have one, can't always afford to buy petrol, qualify for benefits other than child benefit, have no access to financial savings, no or very limited expandable income, rarely buy new because you can't afford it and can't afford to go on holiday) my hourly rate is £25 and payment plans can be arranged.
With each of these hourly rates, you'll have email follow up as appropriate and recordings of any relaxation tracks used in our sessions.
