Welcome! I’m Kris McKeown, mother of 3, doula & perinatal emotional health and wellbeing practitioner
I’m passionate about helping you as a woman/birthing person, and your family, access the care that’s right for you and your baby.
I use my background in research, my years of training and further exploration into all aspects of birth, and my lived experience to enhance your experience of birth, and to address and support recovery when things don’t go as planned.
Giving birth can be an uncertain time for anyone, but people with certain identities can sometimes face further challenges. If you are neurodiverse, part of the LGBTQ+ community, disabled, and/or a person of Colour, you and your family may have additional questions or worries about your experience with pregnancy and birth. I will listen to your concerns with non-judgemental compassion, educate myself where necessary, and advocate for you and your baby every step of the way.
"Kris’ care, genuine kindness and support was absolutely invaluable. She was wise enough to know when to offer advice and when to give us space and privacy. Kris supported us with research, up to date advice and emotional hand holding whenever we needed it.” - Emma & Steve Manchester, proud parents of Holly

Traumatic Birth Recovery - 3 Step Rewind
Events around birth - conception, the birth itself, infant feeding and the early postpartum experience - are an intense time and, sometimes, traumatic. This can result in anxiety, depression, intrusive negative thoughts, nightmares, or flashbacks, making it harder to enjoy your baby and your experience as a new parent.
Traumatic Birth Recovery (TBR) 3 Step Rewind is a gentle, effective framework to lessen the impact of traumatic events. Grounded in neuroscience and drawing on mindfulness, relaxation and building new ways of coping, TBR 3 Step Rewind puts you, your experience and your ability to recover firmly at the centre of the process.
“We couldn’t recommend Kris and her rewind therapy enough for anyone struggling to move on from their birth trauma. It worked amazingly and we’re so glad we did it.” - Joseph Brown, Chesterfield
Have questions about TBR 3 Step Rewind? I’d love to chat.

Birth Doula Services
Being pregnant and giving birth can be wonderful times in your life. They can also be confusing and challenging. Our culture lacks positive dialogue around pregnancy and birth and often, you just don’t know what to expect.
"If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it." - John H. Kennell, MD
Birth Doulas are there with the birthing person and their family from pregnancy, attending the birth and supporting in the postnatal period. I will help you navigate prenatal care, ensuring you understand your options to make fully informed choices, helping you create a birth plan that truly works for you and your family, and support and advocate for you throughout your birthing experience.
“On the day of the birth Kris was an absolute rock for both of us, and she went above and beyond our expectations in terms of practical support. Having her there helped us make decisions and realise that throughout we had a choice.” - Lydia and Jamie, Sheffield
Have questions about my Birth Doula services? I’d love to hear from you.

One-to-one Sessions
You can work one to one with me in a variety of different ways to support your emotional wellbeing, depending on your needs. Everyone is different, and these sessions are tailored to your needs.
This could look like:
- a one-off session to help with things like birth planning or postnatal recovery
- a birth debrief after a difficult experience
- regular weekly sessions to work on managing anxiety and/or low mood that have resulted from fertility issues, pregnancy, birth or early postpartum experiences
If you'd like to have a chat about how I may be able to support you, I'd love to hear from you.
